Is Trump a true Christian? or Is Trump just using it to gain votes?

Problem:  Trump is claiming to be a Christian.  He is NOT behaving as such or having the concepts of such.  Is he actually a Christian?  He thinks God should do his will upon prayer and not that Trump should be doing things in God’s Will and becoming what God wants us to be as Christians.  So……I researched it. Below is what I found on the topic.

Matthew  7:21-23

“Not everyone who says unto me Lord, Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the Will of My Father which is in Heaven.”

Salvation is through Jesus Christ’s Sacrifice to pay the sin penalty with God Almighty’s acceptance of that payment —  and our faith in Jesus and acceptance of his paying our sin penalty upon our repentance of our sin at the guidance of the Holy Spirit.  We also MUST DO the Will of God Almighty.

What does carnal mean biblically?

AI Overview

In the Bible, carnal refers to the “fleshly” or worldly nature of humanity. Derived from the Latin word for flesh (caro), it describes living according to base human instincts, physical desires, and earthly impulses rather than being guided by the Spirit of God.

Here is how carnal is used in scripture:

  • The “Carnal Christian”: In 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, the Apostle Paul describes believers who are still acting like “mere men” as carnal. He points out that their spiritual growth is stunted, leading to jealousy, division, and strife.
  • Hostility Toward God: In Romans 8:6-7, Paul states that “to be carnally minded is death” because the fleshly mind is naturally hostile to God and does not submit to His laws..
  • Physical vs. Spiritual: It highlights the contrast between physical limitations and spiritual realities, such as in Romans 15:27 where it refers to sharing in material (physical) blessings rather than spiritual ones.

Ultimately, a carnal state indicates a focus on self, worldly pleasures, and the five physical senses. Biblical teaching encourages believers to move away from carnality and allow their minds to be transformed by the Spirit.

{My question is how can you be saved and remain carnal minded and carnal behavior instead of trying to following God’s Will?}

A person can be carnal and be a Christian, as a “carnal Christian” refers to a believer who is genuinely saved but struggles with spiritual immaturity and fleshly desires. However, this condition is viewed as a temporary stage of growth, not a permanent lifestyle of unrepentant sin. Genuine faith is expected to produce spiritual growth, fruit, and good works over time. A life continuously marked by habitual, unrepentant sin with absolutely no desire to follow Christ raises serious questions about the authenticity of a person’s faith.  Will a true Christian remain carnal? No.

Since eternal security is a fact of Scripture, even the carnal Christian is still saved. Salvation cannot be lost, because salvation is a gift of God that He will not take away (see John 10:28; Romans 8:37-39; 1 John 5:13). Even in 1 Corinthians 3:15, the carnal Christian is assured of salvation: “If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” The question is not whether a person who claims to be a Christian but lives carnally has lost his salvation, but whether that person was truly saved in the first place (1 John 2:19).

Christians who become carnal in their behavior can expect God to lovingly discipline them (Hebrews 12:5-11) so they can be restored to close fellowship with Him and be trained to obey Him. God’s desire in saving us is that we would progressively grow closer to the image of Christ (Romans 12:1-2), becoming increasingly spiritual and decreasingly carnal, a process known as sanctification. Until we are delivered from our sinful flesh, there will be outbreaks of carnality. For a genuine believer in Christ, though, these outbreaks of carnality will be the exception, not the rule.
